White Clouds Mountain

White Cloud Mountain is a mountain near Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province in China officially part of the Baiyunshan Resort. It is one of the most famous mountains among all mountains in the south of Guangdong province. The name of the mountain derives from the view of peaks shrouded by white clouds in late spring or when the sky clears after rain.

The whole White Cloud Mountain attraction can be divided into seven sightseeing districts, which are Mingzhu Tower, Moxing Ridge/Summit, Santai Ridge, Mingchun Valley, Fei’e Ridge, and Luhu Lake. Visitors not only can enjoy the beautiful natural views but also participate in all kinds of entertainment such as bungee, grass skating, and slideway.

The White Cloud Mountain is a deposit of cultures and times. Dating back to New Stone Age, the mountain was a site for primitives who lived in Huangpo Cave. From the past to the present, many poets and writers have visited White Cloud Mountain and impressed by the beautiful natural view. They eulogize the mountain with poems and paintings then left the number of great works to us.

The White Cloud Mountain has abundant natural resources. There are 876 species of plants and five of those valuable and rare plants. With the fresh air provided for Guangzhou citizens every day, White Cloud Mountain is regarded as the “Lung of the City”. Therefore, it is a wonderful destination for visitors to get away from crowds and get some fresh air.

It is possible for visitors to visit White Cloud Mountain by Baiyun Cableway. It is the first bicable ropeway in the country and has 80 cars seating 6 passengers each. The cable cars of Baiyun Cableway pass by such scenic spots as the Cloudy Valley, Pu Valley, a barbecue zone, Nengren Temple, and so on, and Goat City (Guangzhou) can be seen clearly from the summit.

Over the course of history, White Cloud Mountain has got the titles “Top Beauty of Guangzhou” and “First Mountain of Lingnan”. In addition, it has been listed as one of the Eight Sights of Guangzhou. Therefore, visitors to Guangzhou should not miss this destination.

How to Get There?

You can take Subway Line 1, and get off at Nong Jiang Suo Station from Exit C. Or, you can take Bus 864, Bus 76 a, or Bus 76, and get off at Guangzhou Gymnasium Station. Then they can walk for about 2100 meters to Baiyun Mountain.

The best time to visit: September to November is the most suitable time to climb the mountain because of the fine weather and moderate temperature.

Attention: Travelers can take the environment-protection trolleybuses up to the mountain. At present, there are four lines (six sections) available. The line of Northern Mountain, which starts from the North Gate, passing the Pearl Tower, and arrives at the Peak Park, is the most expensive, charging RMB 24 for each person. The line from the South Gate to the Peak Park passing the Neng Ren Temple costs RMB 20 for each person. And the line from the Peak Park to the Mo Xing Ling charges RMB 10 per person.
