What to wear in Hong Kong in March?
Keep it Cool
March is back to t-shirt weather in Hong Kong. It’s warm enough that you won’t need long sleeves or layers to keep warm, even during the night-time cold weather.
In the later weeks of March the humidity and heat will climb, so some quick-dry clothes or cotton shirts that can absorb your sweat will not be remiss.
Other Considerations
Fortunately, the sun isn’t as strong as the summer months, and the weather is nice and warm during the day. There is twice as much rain as in the winter, but half as much as in the summer. A hat or light water-resistant jacket will be good choices to bring, but are by no means necessary unless you plan on being outdoors for extended periods.
Visiting in March
March is the last month before winter where you can comfortably go outside. As March ends and April begins, the sticky season begins, rain skyrockets while heat and humidity will have you drenched as soon as you step outside.
March is a great time for hitting the beaches. The sun is out, but not too strong, the winter’s grey skies clear up, and the ocean temperature is a refreshing 20ºC (68ºF) on average.
Besides the beaches, exploring the city is another good option in March. If the weather gets too hot and muggy during the day, then you can take frequent breaks in Hong Kong’s many cafés, malls, and shops.

Many events that happen throughout the year aren’t annual traditions. There are all sorts of 1-time events or events that change their dates each year. For example, in 2019, the Hong Kong Film Festival took place in March.
