What to wear in Hong Kong in October?
Summer clothes
Summer clothes are definitely a good choice for Hong Kong in October. This subtropical climate experiences autumn quite late, so you should be comfortable in t-shirts, shorts, and sandals most of the time. The rain is thankfully quite low in this month, so rain gear isn’t necessary.
One pair of long pants and a long-sleeved shirt should complement the summer clothes nicely in the case of cooler night-time weather.
Special Considerations
The end of the extremely rainy season sees many flowers bloom in Hong Kong, so the air pollen level is quite high. Those with allergies should consider bringing an inhaler, face-cover/dust mask, or any other necessary items for dealing with allergies.
Is October a good time to visit Hong Kong?
With the clear, cooler weather, October is generally regarded as one of the best times to visit Hong Kong’s outdoors.
Victoria Peak and Lantau Island command beautiful views in nice weather. It’s not too hot like in the summer, and not foggy and gray like in the winter.
Disneyland and Ocean Park also make for great visiting ideas, as the outdoors activities of amusement parks are great in the cooler weather.
Peak Season
Thanks to the weather, October is peak tourist season in Hong Kong. Accommodation, travel, and pretty much everything will be more expensive and more difficult to organize. Make sure to plan your October trip well so you don’t wind up overpaying or being unable to find a place to stay or travel tickets.
