Zhangjiajie Temperature in March

What to Wear in Zhangjiajie in March
March is hard to plan in Zhangjiajie. It is rainy and cold, but not always cold. You should still bring layers, but don’t expect to always need them. During the night, in the rain, and on the peaks, it’s cold, but otherwise, it’s more temperate.
- Layers. Layers are important because they can keep you warm, and you can remove them as you hike if you get too hot.
- Windbreaker/waterproof outer jacket. A waterproof is necessary year-round in Zhangjiajie.
- Water-resistant, slip-resistant shoes. Hiking boots are ideal, as they will keep you warm, resist the heavy rain, and retain traction on difficult, and frequently wet, terrain.
Is March a good time to visit Zhangjiajie?
March isn’t usually regarded as a great time to visit Zhangjiajie. It rains half the days of the month, and with rain come clouds, which can block your view of the mountains, even at the peaks.
Visitors can get lucky though and sometimes will see misty mountain peaks with wisps of clouds floating between, just like the movie Avatar.
However, some extra preparation is required for March, as winter layers and waterproof clothing will be necessary for just about any outdoor activities, and when the sun comes out, hikers might easily overheat.
Advantages: Fewer visitors- lower prices on accommodation and entrance.
Disadvantages:
- Varying weather makes it harder to prepare.
- More frequent rain.
What to Do in Zhangjiajie in March
March is a good month for pictures- if you get lucky. You want halfway rainy weather that’s not so wet it makes the terrain impassable. If there is just the right amount of cloud cover, the mountains are holistically beautiful with gorgeous small clouds floating between them. If it’s overly rainy, then it’s cold, wet, and there isn’t much of a view at the top of the peaks.

1. Yellow Dragon Cave is good to visit in March, they maintain constant temperatures around 18º C (64.4º F).
2. Occasionally, the Lunar New Year celebrations take place in March, and Zhangjiajie is a good place to see the Chinese Spring Festival. Be prepared for insane travel during this period though, as hundreds of millions of Chinese cross the country to visit their hometowns, it severely strains China’s transportation systems.
3. Pretty much all of the attractions there are available throughout the month. Tianmen Mountain, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, the caves, and more are all available throughout the entire month.
Tips for Visiting Zhangjiajie in March
Although it’s still cold and getting rainier and rainier, don’t expect the attractions to close because of the cold, like they do in January or February. This means that you can see just about anything, you will just need to be prepared for the bad weather and tough terrain.
Travel season is still low, so you probably won’t need to plan too much in advance. Entrance, accommodation and more will be cheaper than usual, and you won’t have to fight the crowds to see what you want.
