There are three passageways, with the north and south passageways near the parking lot, featuring restrooms and ticket vending machines. The middle passageway has escalators connecting passengers arriving on the second floor to the first floor. Each passageway has subway entrances on the ground level for convenient access to the subway on the B1 level.

Guangzhou South Station provides convenient and fast transfer services within the station. Passengers who have purchased connecting train tickets do not need to exit the station upon arrival. The Guangzhou Metro Lines 2, 7, and 22, as well as the Foshan Metro Line 2, have subway stations directly underneath or near Guangzhou South Railway Station, thus forming a centralized transfer center.
Subway
Guangzhou South Railway Station has a supporting subway station. It serves as a transfer station for Guangzhou Metro Lines 2, 7, and 22, as well as for Foshan Metro Line 2.
The Foshan Line 2 station is located under the West Square of Guangzhou South Station. Guangzhou Lines 2 and 7 stations are located underneath the station building. The Line 22 station is situated under the East Square of Guangzhou South Station.
The Guangzhou South Railway Station Subway Station has 16 entrances and exits. Among these, 11 are in the Line 2/7 concourse area, 3 in the Line 22 concourse area, and 2 in the Foshan Line 2 concourse area. Except for a few entries and exits that serve both purposes, the C, E, G, J, K, and L exits are only for subway transfers within the station, while the D and F exits are solely designated for exiting from the subway.

There is a bus station at the West Square on the first floor of Guangzhou South Railway Station, with buses heading towards Guangzhou, Panyu, Nansha, and Shunde.

- Heading towards the downtown area of Guangzhou: take Night Bus No. 20 (towards Chebei Terminal), Night Bus No. 61 (towards Tianhe Sports Center), Night Bus No. 79 (towards Guangzhou Railway Station), or Night Bus No. 102 (towards Dongshan Terminal). The last bus departs at 1:00 am the next day.
- Heading towards Panyu: take South Station Night Bus No.1 (towards Luoxi New Town Terminal), South Station Night Bus No. 2 (towards Nancun Terminal), and South Station Night Bus No. 3 (towards Yongwang Dreamland). These buses operate from 10:00 pm to 0:15 am the next day. South Station Night Bus No. 4 (towards Olympic Plaza) operates from 10:00 pm to 00:30 am the next day.
- Heading towards Nansha: take the Guangzhou South Station Express (Night Shift). The operation time is from 11:00 pm to 00:30 am.
- Heading towards Shunde: take Night Bus No. 110 (towards Shunde District's Yan Nian Road Darenfa A Station). It operates from 9:30 pm to 0:30 am.
In the event of late high-speed trains or extra services, the last bus departures for Guangzhou and Panyu will be rescheduled to 20 minutes after the arrival of the last high-speed train.

From downtown Guangzhou to the Guangzhou South Railway Station
- Bus: 303A, 309A, Conghua-Panyu Passenger Station Line (从化-番禺客运站线), Nanhai Fast Line 3 Short Line(南海快3路短线), Chan City K6 Line (禅城K6路).
- Metro: you can take Line 2 or Line 7.
From Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to the Guangzhou South Railway Station
You can take a taxi or the subway to the Guangzhou South Railway Station from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport.
- Subway Route: Subway Line 3 → arrive at Jiahewanggang Station (嘉禾望岗站) → transfer to Subway Line 2, for a total distance of approximately 49.2km.
- Taxi: From Baiyun Airport to Guangzhou South Station is approximately 58.8 kilometers. You may take a taxi, which is usually faster, taking about 59 minutes and costing around 180 CNY. However, if you encounter traffic jams, you will spend significantly more time on the road. The risk of being stuck in traffic is higher when taking a taxi.

During peak holiday periods such as Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, and Summer Holidays, the station sees a considerable increase in passenger flow, implementing a 2-hour pre-departure waiting system.
The process of ticket purchase/collection, identity verification, luggage security check, and boarding check could take some time. Ticket checks stop 5 minutes before the train departure. It's advised that passengers arrive at the station at least 1.5 hours in advance for identity verification and ticket checking to avoid missing their train.
